Dr. Sandra Morseth, Morseth Consulting

Dr. Morseth received her Ph.D. in 1984 from Washington State University in Experimental Psychology. She joined Hazleton Labs (now Covance) that year and served as a study director for developmental and reproductive studies until joining the FDA in 1990. While at the FDA she worked at both CDER and CBER as a pharmacology/toxicology reviewer. She was a member of several intercenter committees including serving a chair of the FDA (CDER/CBER) Developmental and Reproductive Toxicity committee where she both advised other reviewers and participated in the ICH guideline development process. After leaving FDA she again joined Covance as the Associate Director of Toxicology with responsibility for the scientific direction of small animal and developmental and reproductive toxicology. She left there in 1998 to join Quintiles where she served as a preclinical consultant providing scientific and regulatory advice to companies developing pharmaceutical products in the US, Europe, and Asia. Since then she continued to serve as a consultant first for Milestone Biomedical Associates (a division of CRL) and now is an independent consultant specializing in the science and strategy of preclinical drug development.

Professor Ron Slocombe, BVSc(hons) MS, PhD, Diplomate ACVP, MACVS, MAICD.

Professor Slocombe is Professor and Chair of Veterinary Pathology at the University of Melbourne where he has been involved in teaching, delivery of diagnostic services and research for many years. Professor Slocombe research interests have been mainly on diseases and conditions of the respiratory system, and published scientific articles involving livestock, zoo and wildlife species and laboratory animals. Professor Slocombe served as Chair of the veterinary testing advisory committee for NATA accreditation of veterinary laboratories for two terms and has served as President of the Australian Society of Veterinary Pathology.

Dr. Mark Williamson, Gribbles Veterinary Pathology

Dr Williamson is a specialist veterinary pathologist employed by Gribbles Veterinary and through Gribbles Veterinary, provides consultant pathology services to RDDT Laboratories.

A Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists and a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists (Veterinary Pathology), Dr. Williamson completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Melbourne with first-class honours in 1986. His Masters thesis, completed at the University of Melbourne, investigated the use of immunochemistry to differentiate soft tissue tumours.

From 1995 to 2000, Dr. Williamson was a Scientific Officer with the Australian Animal Health Laboratory CSIRO campus in Geelong, Victoria where he conducted a research and diagnostic investigations into a wide variety of infectious viral diseases including Hendra virus, Classical Swine Fever, Avian Influenza, Newcastle disease and rabbit calicivirus. In 1998, he won the National Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation Award for Equine Postgraduate Research for his PhD work on the pathogenesis of the Hendra virus infection. In 2000, he was co-recipient of the AQIS Award for Science and Research for the detection of a new virus in green tree snakes.

Dr. Williamson is a member of the Subcommittee of the Animal Health and Laboratory Standards (SCAHLS). In addition he is also a member of the NATA Veterinary Testing Accreditation Advisory Committee. Widely published in veterinary journals, Mark has been a reviewer of the articles submitted to the Australian Veterinary Journal since 2002, and regularly travels both within Australia and internationally as a conference speaker.

Prior to joining Gribbles, Dr. Williamson was Assistant Professor of Veterinary Pathology at Iowa State University in the United States. In 2003, he was Principal Scientist with the Department of Primary Industries. Dr. Williamson joined Gribbles in 2004 and is currently based in Melbourne.

Dr. Judith Nimmo, BSc, BVetSc(Hons), Ph.D. (Vet. Pathology), MSc, Diplomate ACVP, MRCVS (UK), Registered Veterinary Surgeon

Dr. Nimmo graduated with honours in Veterinary Science and Science from the University of Queensland. After graduation she gained a diploma in Veterinary Pathology from Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Canada an MSc [with distinction] in Veterinary Pathology from the Royal Veterinary College in London, England, a Ph.D. from the University of Guelph, and a diplomate from the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. Dr. Nimmo has extensive experience in diagnostic anatomic pathology in companion, production and laboratory animals, and worked as a Senior Veterinary Pathologist at various commercial entities.

Dr. Nimmo is registered as a Veterinary Specialist in Victoria and regularly gives presentations at Veterinary pathology and dermatology seminars and meetings. Dr. Nimmo is on the editorial board of "Veterinary Dermatology" and is a reviewer for several international journals. Dr. Nimmo is a member of the Australian Society of Veterinary Pathologists and the American College of Veterinary Pathologists.

Professor Harry Majewski, Head of School of Medical Sciences, RMIT University

Professor Majewski completed his Ph.D. at the University of Melbourne in 1979 and has held several research Fellowships at the University of Melbourne, University of Freiburg Germany, and Prince Henry's Institute of Medical Research, Melbourne where he established a Pharmacology research group. The Fellowships have included the LIMRF Fellowship, CJ Martin Fellowship, Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship, Wellcome Australian Senior Research Fellowship, and the NH&MRC Principal Research Fellowship. Professor Majewski has had continuous NH&MRC grant support since 1986 and has published over 130 scientific papers. He has had several links with the pharmaceutical industry in Australia, U.K. and Japan in the area of pharmacology which has included basic research, contract research, and drug development. He has had several roles within the Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacologists and Toxicologists.

Professor Jorma Ahokas, School of Medical Sciences, RMIT University

Professor Ahokas has been Director of the Key Centre for Applied and Nutritional Toxicology and Professor of Toxicology at RMIT University. Previous appointments have been held at the University of Melbourne, University of Queensland and the University of Oulu, Finland. Professor Ahokas has held a Nordic Research Council Scholarship and he was the Merck Sharp and Dohme Research Fellow in Clinical Pharmacology in the Department of Medicine, University of Queensland 1979-1997. Professor Ahokas has a wide range of active links and collaborations with key toxicologists in Europe and Australia. His government activities include enquiries into lethal dose testing for the Victorian Government 1997–1999 and he was a member of the Commonwealth Complementary Medicines Evaluation Committee 1997–1999. He has published extensively in the area of toxicology and drug metabolism with over 95 publications. He has also had a wide range of industry projects in toxicology and is a consultant to several organizations.
